15 Tips on Studying And Revising

At a stage in our lives we all will be tested on our brain capacity. Well I surely have. On the 17 of May 2016 I started my GCSE which back in the UK is considered the first set of real exams a student will face throughout their educational life. The importance of these exams determine which subjects you could study at an advance level (A-Level). Your grades in A-level will then determine if you are qualified to go to a University of your chose and study your desired course, that you see will strengthen your chance at getting a specific occupation.

Well here are a few tips that I would recommend you take into consideration whilst studying

1- Start revising a month or two in advance.
Most people are tested on a number of subjects ranging from 3-12. By revising a month or two in advance you enable yourself to spend a good range of time on each subject.
2- Create a tranquil area where you can revise
This could be in your bedroom or in the study. If you like it could even be on the dinning room table, however this only works if everyone else is revising or better still if no one is there. Unfortunately living in a chaotic household like mine finding a quite room in near impossible, so if you most go to your local library by all means do
3- Sit at a proper desk when revising
This is ideal because from experience working on a bed, for example, could lead to an unexpected 4 hour nap.
4- Buy all your revision equipment
Now I don't mean go spend a fortune on revision cards and colourful pens. What I mean is go out and buy the essential, for example a revision guides, a note book and a few highlighters and pens. The advantages of buying your equipment at the start of your revision process is you don't start procrastinating and start leaving your revision to last minute because you didn't have a pen. In fact you don't necessarily need to buy anything because I'm pretty sure you could find the main essential lying about in the house.
5- Find the specification for your subjects.
Before you start revising the most important thing you should get is the specification for the subjects you wish to revise. Getting the specification for your subject is free and simple, all  you have to do is see which exam board you are sitting for that subject (e.g. A-level, Chemistry, Edexcel- the exam board). The specification list is a checklist for all the key information you will need for the course/ exam it also ensures that you have learnt all the topics needed . So it is key to getting those top grades.
6- Create a revision timetable and stick to it.
Rather then waking up in the morning and deciding you want to spend the entire day revising English, by making a timetable you are more likely to get a range of subjects revised in a day.
7-Invest in some revision guides
These books will be the reason you pass your exams. Teachers can teach you as much as they want but without those revision guides you wouldn't fully grasp the concept of the topic.
8-Timing is key
Don't waste time trying to make your notes look pretty because in the end you will probably end up burning them in your garden furnace.
9-Take short breaks and Don't become a revision zombie
Take a short break every hour and not every 10 minutes this is important for successful revision. And because it is exam season doesn't mean you should stop doing everything else and just focus on revision until you turn into a zombie. It's important to make time for other things such as watching TV or going out with friends. Its also highly advised if you incorporate some form of physical activity such as football or basketball.
10- Don't just read your note
Write stuff down.Repetition is highly important when revising because your embedding the information into your brain.
11- Work with a partner that won't distract you
Help each other out by quizzing each other or trying to explain what you learnt to them. That way it ensures that you fully understand what your learning.
12- Watch revision videos on Youtube
Sometimes you can get sick of hearing your own voice speaking over and over again. So why don't you take a break and listen to someone else for a change. There are thousands of helpful sites and videos on the internet focus on the topics you are studying, you might need to spend a while looking for them but don't spend your whole revision time doing that. In fact try and do that during your breaks.
13-DO PRACTICE PAPERS
This is especially important as you get close to the exams. When you are doing past papers it is mentally preparing you for how the actual exam may be like. It also gives you an idea on how to answer the questions (to get as many marks as possible). Most times in the exam paper they like to repeat topics and key points, so by doing past papers you could see where you went wrong and learn how they would want that question answered.
14-Night before exam, skim read notes
Most revision sites tell you not to revise the night before the exam but I personally think they mean don't start revising for that subject the night before. But something that will benefit you for that exam is reading over your notes and skimming through the revision guide and recalling all the key processes and information you remember in those sub-topics.
15- Read the exam timetable properly
Double- check so you don't miss an exam and that you have plenty of time to prepare for it.

Product Review: Facial

Brand : Clean & Clear
Product: Dual Action Moisturizer

CLEAN & CLEAR® Essentials Dual Action Moisturizer combines oil-free moisture with a proven acne-fighting ingredient. It can help to moisturise dry skin while treating and helping to prevent breakouts. It leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

Cost-  £5

Customer- This moisturiser is targeted to those who have very oily skin which could cause breakout and leave the skin acne/ pimpled covered. When applying this moisturiser you will get a stinging sensation for a couple of seconds, this is the moisturiser attacking the pores and clearing them.

Size- 100 ml

Direction- After you've cleaned your face, and your pores, you're ready for the finishing touch. Apply a thin layer over the affected acne area. Do this once a day for the first few days, then gradually increase to 2-3 times a day. But if your skin starts to dry out or peel, reduce your use to once a day or even every other day.

Ingredients (for those who have allergies) -
Active- Salicylic Acid (0.5%)
Inactive- Water Dicaprylyl Ether Cetearyl Alcohol Glycerin Neopentyl Glycol Diethylhexanoate Dimethicone Dicetyl Phosphate Ceteth-10 Phosphate Methyl Gluceth-20 Menthyl Lactate Aluminum Starch Octenylsuccinate Steareth-20 Sodium Hydroxide Steareth-2 Fragrance Neopentyl Glycol Diisostearate Lecithin Xanthan Gum Disodium EDTA Magnesium Aluminum Silicate BHT

My Personal Thoughts

I find that this moisturiser works well to keep my spots and breakouts under control, however it doesn't fully moisturise my skin, in fact it kinda drys out. I personally don't mind it drying out my skin as I have oily skin therefore it stops me looking shiny. However, if you were to get this moisturiser I would recommend you use another facial cream that would actually keep your skin moist.Upon further inspection I see that it contains salicylic acid, which is why it keeps breakouts at bay but doesn't do much in terms of moisturising. As I have extremely oily skin this moisturiser is an amazing investment.

I would highly recommend this product

Amazing Armpits Fan! Drum rolls!

This one is a super amazing first. It's not funny at all... Okay, may be a little bit.
If you live in Africa or the Middle East, you might be secretly throwing your hands up and dancing a victory jig  for this newest gadget.

This arm pit fan was designed in Korea to combat the big white patch under you arms. They cost about twenty seven dollars and are trending right now, all over the world.

Will this be an- out with the deodorant, in with the arm pit fan fad? Who isn't tired of embarrassing wet underarm patches that creep up on you minutes before you have a big presentation or a first date?
Maybe this discreet gadget may be what people need to be able to raise their arms up whenever they need to while being out in public. It can be worn anywhere on any part of the body that needs some cooling down.
Not sure I may be ordering one, I will be sticking to deodorants and jamming my arms to my sides to hide that annoying wet patch in this 40 degree heat. Would you though?

Oops! Did I Order THIS?

We saw this online and had to share it with you. As funny as this is, we can't help but feel sorry for the customer. What would you do if you ordered this and received that?

Don't do it. Order from a reliable and tested source.

My On Going Weight Loss Journey

One of the biggest trends out there in the world is fitness. Nearly everyone's goals is to lose the food pregnancy and get the perfect 6 pack. As a 17 year old girl who has felt very self conscience about her weight and how she looks in clothes, I unfortunately developed self hate towards myself for gaining so much fat and not being able to lose any of it.
I have known obesity for a majority of my childhood and I can strongly confirm that it plays a major role in my personality. If you had never met me before now, you would think that I  was boring, whilst in actual fact people that are closest to me would say that I am funny, loyal and a great listener.
It was all because of how I looked.

My weight caused me to develop social anxiety which led to me being house bound all the time. I never liked going out so I just never did.  If I was forced to leave the house I would wear this navy blue hoodie that I had owned for over 4 years.
It was an L men's hoodie so it covered my body like a blanket. My obsession with that hoodie got so bad that I would even wear it in 25 degrees weather (which is considered immensely hot back in England). Now that isn't healthy. I bought that hoodie in 2012 on my 13 birthday and only said my final goodbyes to it last month when I was getting rid of clothes that I no longer needed. Oh! the only reason why I did that was because I was moving across the world from a cold climate country to a country where 35 degrees was the norm.

Truthfully, I started my weight loss journey when I was 11 and around that time I weighed around 75kg which is crazy.
As a young child you never really care what you look like until someone/ another child bluntly tells you that you're " fat"
My family is very comforting,  they would  tell me daily that I wasn't fat but chubby. They would also reassure me that I would eventually lose all my "baby fat" so not to worry much-  I didn't. However I knew I was unhealthy so I changed for the sake of my health.
6 years on and I'm relatively the same weight but I've grown taller so I don't look as chubby as I was when I was 11.
I'm still considered as very overweight according to my BMI but I personally feel fitter and healthier and I guess that is the most important thing. If your health is good then you are okay.
Even though I've accepted my weight I would still like to develop an athletic body. So this summer that is my aim, to convert that body fat into muscle and to get toned, lean and strong.
To do this I have started going to the gym and started using weights which should help increase my muscle gain. There are also many apps and videos you can use to help you get to your target weight.
Here is a helpful list.

Videos and People that I used and found very effective
1- FitnessBlender (YouTube)
2- Lumowell (YouTube)
3- Scola Dondo (YouTube)
4- T25
5- Billy Blanks Tae Bo workouts ( YouTube)
6- Blogilates (YouTube )
7- Superherofitnesstv (YouTube)
8- Jillian Michaels ( Youtube)
Apps that I used and also found very helpful
1- Nike Training
2- Freeletics Bodyweight

These are all the things I personally found helpful so I hope you are encouraged to at least try.
All you need to remember is once you start, remain consistent. Best of luck and let me know how it goes please. xoxo

How to Cope With Younger Siblings

To all my friends out there with younger siblings, you will understand me when I say that younger siblings are one of the most annoying things you could ever wish for, especially when they are little girls. Don't get me wrong, I was glad when I found out that I was going to have a little bro and I was even happier when my little sisters came along. The thing with baby brothers and baby sisters is that they go through lots of phases and I think I'm quite experienced enough to know those phases and they are:
  • The Cute Phase The cute phase varies between people but it usually lasts between the age 0-3/4. During this stage, no matter what they do, you still find them cute, you always love to hold them, you always play with them. This is also when they start talking and crawling/walking so you always love to teach them to say new words, to walk to you etc.
  • The Transition Stage – This transition stage normally happens between the age 4-5/6. This normally happens because they've been through preschool and are getting ready to go into school, they think that they are on top of the world so they start acting up. In this scenario acting up mainly means trying to mimic your every word (mainly happens with little sisters), jumps on you and pulls your hair and most importantly this is the age that they start throwing major tantrums
  • The Bratty Stage
This stage is pretty self-explanatory as its when your little siblings act like complete brats. By this I mean they throw unnecessary tantrums that last for more than 3 mins (a bit shorter for little brothers), they cry for no reason or when they don’t get their own way (mainly happens with little sisters), they always tend to hit/slap you for absolutely no reason (happens with both little brothers and sisters). This stage varies for guys and girls. I don’t know why but little brothers tend to grow out of the bratty stage much earlier than girls because they are just more easy going than girls so because of that they tend to grow out of this stage at the age of 7/8. But for little sisters they don’t grow out of this stage until the age of 9/10 but if you’re lucky they might grow out of it by the age of 8.
  • Lastly there is the Compatible Stage This stage is where every older sibling longs to get to because it’s when the younger sibling stops acting bratty and annoying and actually tries to get along with you. Once you get to this stage you cant expect to stop fighting with your younger siblings completely but you can expect to not fight with them as much as you did before. You can also expect to get along with them much better than you did before.

So in conclusion in order to cope with your younger siblings, you just need to let them be them. Let them cry, let them shout, let them throw tantrums because the secret is kids will always be kids. You can't speed up the process and you cant slow it down. In other words, just make the most of the short time because before you know it, they wont be babies or little brats anymore.
They would have grown up and you wont be able to go back in time to spend those times that have already passed, once they turn six, they can't turn six or five any more. So if there's anything I've learnt form being an older sibling of 4 (meaning that there are 4 kids and I'm the Oldest) it's to cherish the moments you have with them, the good ones and the not so good ones because once its gone, its gone.
If in this blog I haven't answered some questions that you would have loved to be answered about coping with siblings, please leave a comment below and I will try my best to answer your question as soon as possible and in as much detail as possible.
