It's Brazilian Acaraje Burger. Delicious taste of Rio.

Since it's the Olympics and it's holding in the beautiful Brazilian City of Rio. Today we are sharing an authentic delicious Brazilian snack and we have the home made video to go with it at the end.
Acaraje is also eaten in Nigeria and Ghana and history has it that African slaves from West Africa took this delicacy with them to Brazil.

In Nigeria and Ghana it is called Acara. Acaraje is made from peeled brown beans and shrimp. You can flame it up with spicy chill if you want or tame it down with some ginger. Either way it is delicious eaten alone. Today we are revving it up and making it into a tasty burger. Deliciousness!

Recipe

Acaraje
1 cup peeled beans
1/2 cup shrimp
1 onion
1 egg
11/2 inch ginger
1 habenero pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Some oil for deep frying

Burger
Burger buns
Lettuce
Tomato
Yellow bell pepper
Onion slice
Low fat Cheese

Preparation:
Step 1:
Pour some hot water over peeled beans and shrimp and let it soften. This will take only a minute if the water is at boiling point.

Step 2
Blend beans, shrimp, onion, ginger and habenero together with a little water, just enough to get it blended. Consistency should be thick.

Step 3
Transfer into a bowl and mix in one egg, add some salt and combine properly.

Step 4
Heat some oil and fry the goodness in batches. When it turns golden brown, transfer into a plate lined with a paper towel to drain all the excess oil out.

Step 5

Assemble, starting with lettuce, acaraje, onion, tomato, bell pepper and cheese.

Step 6
Do a little jig while taking in all that wonderful burger smell wafting around(I did!) and devour.
