Bible Verse: Colossians 4:2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
Prayer is your time spent with the lord. It is your cloak as a believer and your weapon against the enemy.
Prayers are important and we should pray everyday. God loves when you knock on His door just to say good morning and thank you Lord.Prayers do not have to be long, some people get discouraged about their prayer lives because it is not as long as their pastors. Do not compare yourself with anyone. Every one has different gifts.
Do not also think that you do not know how to pray, Romans 8:26 tells us that the Holy Spirit Himself teaches us with groanings that are deeper than words. How awesome!
As a believer, I believe that God is not moved the quantity of time into prayer, He is moved by the effort of trying to stay connected to Him, that equals the quality of our prayers.
He is not impressed by the big words loaded in our prayers, the bible reminds us not heap empty phrases in a bid to show off our verbosity in Mathew 6:7.
Why should we pray? John 15:7, Because if you abide in God (spending time in His presence by praying, praising, studying the Word) whatever you ask God, it will be done. Luke 11:9; Ask and it shall be given unto you, Seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened up to you. Jeremiah 33:3. Call to me and I will show you great and hidden things that you have not known.
How should you pray? You are encouraged to pray as your spirit directs you but paul gives a good prayer model in 1st Timothy 2: 1-3 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This means you should tell God of your needs, pray for others and remember to give Him thanks.
God desires us to pray all the time, as often as we can. We dont have to do anything special, we can pray while sitting down while standing, while shopping, while exercising, just about anytime. All He wants is clean heart, lifting our clean hands and hearts to Him without anger or strife with anyone says 1st Timothy 28.
When we pray, we must also pray in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, James 1:6-7.
May the God of peace help us all and equip us with everything good for doing his will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him, through our Lord the beautiful Lamb of God, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
